Dog Exclusive
By Anne-Marie Te Whiu
I used to be a dog-exclusive girl
Until this morning
When under the bridge
I met you...
Tiger
Thick paws
Slow tail
A body you let me pat
You curled around my ankles
A seasoned sun seeker
You hunted the light
Purring
Not breathing
You let me
Get in behind your ears
Stroke your side
Back arched
One of my steps were 6 of yours
You followed me
So that we were together
Until the end of the alley
Then you bit me
