texan sons

The playlist from Volume One is a combination of music listened to during quarantine, music that was lolloping, evocative of escaping the confines of the house with the yearly road trip. While creating a sense of countryside and space, the music is also run through with melancholic threads, impassioned vocals and timely lyrics. Each song was chosen for how it incorporated different blues elements, speaking to the lasting and universal influence that black culture continues to have throughout time and space - speaking to the global immersion in and meeting of the BLM movement. Finally the playlist title "Texan Son" and the kaleidescope donut icon are riffing off Khruangbig and Leon Bridges song "Texan Sun" - to evoke the names and images of all of the children we've lost to hate crimes, the world over.
